Chiropractic wellness care is a proactive approach that looks to optimize one’s life.
We experience life through our nervous system, whether enjoying our child’s laughter, digesting our dinner or running to catch a bus. An unhampered nervous system is a key to living life to the fullest. This is why optimizing our spine and nervous system is so critical. Getting regular chiropractic care and other healthy habits create new possibilities to be your best.
As more and more people realize the folly of merely treating symptoms, there is a growing financial and social movement towards not just good health, but wellness.
You don’t wait until your engine seizes up to get an oil change do you?
And you shouldn’t wait until there’s a problem to start taking care of your most valuable asset…your body and your health either. Chiropractors have been beating the wellness drum for more than a hundred years.
Since its inception in 1895, chiropractic care has focused on the nature of true health and well-being. Both require a sound nervous system, free from interferences, offering an undistorted line of communication between the brain and body.
Dorland’s Medical Dictionary and the World Health Organization define health as optimum physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmities.
In other words, you can lack health and yet not display any obvious symptoms. Undetected cancer and the early, pre-symptomatic effects of tooth decay are simple examples. Catching these and countless other health issues early is less expensive, both financially and physically due to the toll it takes to recover one’s health.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
As you might expect, chiropractors look at health differently than the mainstream allopathic (traditional medical) model. Perhaps the most profound distinction is that while the medical model looks at the problem in the person, chiropractic health practitioners look at the person with the problem!
In fact, the discipline of chiropractic began with a profound question asked by its founder, D. D. Palmer. He desired to know why one person was ailing and his associate eating at the same table, working in the same shop was not. Why? What difference was there in the two persons that caused one to have pneumonia, a cold, typhoid or rheumatism, while his partner, similarly situated, escaped?
Why? Good question.
What causes one person to catch the bug that is going around while another person, in the same household, is not similarly afflicted? Same with allergens. If the real problem was the pollen, cat dander or spicy food, then everyone exposed would have an allergic reaction. But clearly that is not the case.
The chiropractic health care paradigm begins by taking an inventory of the integrity of the nervous system that controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of the body. Even the immune system.
